Creating, Focusing and Managing Your Dreams

Each of us who develops a quality Dream, instinctively develops our Dream with an idea and in an area where we think we are most comfortable. This process naturally occurs because we are most comfortable in areas in which we feel the strongest. Our individual set of core strengths assist us in defining this area and in building confidence in the initial creation of our Dream. Our strengths also help us to focus our Dream and, together with our value system, help to empower us and develop the passion we need to pursue our Dream. Additionally, with the use of appropriate mentoring resources, successful individuals instinctively manage their Dream while pursuing it by focusing it into a vision, an objective, and finally a goal. This focusing of an individual’s Dream is critical and often requires the evaluation of several possible alternatives in order to achieve success. It is important to understand that the creation, management and focusing of an individual’s Dream seem to almost always occur simultaneously in the pursuit of the Dream.  These components and this simultaneous process are an important part of an individual’s risk management process in the formation, focusing and the pursuit of their Dreams.

For individuals who consider themselves successful, these processes often occur naturally.  These same individuals also naturally and instinctively seek mentoring assistance from whatever mentoring resources are available to them. Often when this occurs, individual mentors who the protégé cultivates and engages may not even understand that they are providing mentoring assistance to the individual. Also, mentors who think they are providing mentoring assistance may not be seen as such from the individual’s perspective. This realization is one of the important aspects of understanding Open-System Mentoring as Protégé Driven and mentoring as defined from a Protégé’s perspective.
