UIF understands that it is the formation and pursuit of a variety of individual
Dreams that contribute to the search and fulfillment of your
self-determined success and in the pursuit of your individual happiness. These
Dreams exist in various areas of life, including personal relationships,
entrepreneurial endeavors (business or otherwise), health and fitness, family,
personal circumstances, financial, career and education. UIF created UIF
Virtual Mentor™ and developed Open-System Mentoring™
to assist every individual in the formation and focusing of their
Dreams for every life transition in the search of their self-determined
success and in the pursuit of their individual happiness.
UIF understands that successful mentoring occurs when a Protégé develops and
passionately pursues his or her Dreams. Mentoring is activated by the Protégé
who seeks and obtains the mentoring help they need from whatever sources are
available. Very simply, mentoring works because successful Protégés are able to
convince potential Mentors that they and their Dream are worthy of the Mentor’s
efforts.
In order for successful mentoring to exist, at least three components need to
be present: a Protégé with a worthy Dream; a Protégé with the passion to
fulfill it, and the availability of sufficient interested and committed
mentoring resources for the Protégé’s use. This would suggest that the
formation and refinement of the Protégé’s Dream is essential to both successful
mentoring and successful individual life transitions. Curiously
consistent with Open-System Mentoring™, this construct
suggests that how mentoring actually works is not dependent upon whether an
individual Mentor is either available or present. What is most important
is that which inspires a Protégé to form, focus and passionately pursue
personal dreams.
If what we understand about mentoring and life transitions is true, then an
individual’s Dream formation, Dream management and Dream focusing are
critical. Also, the passionate pursuit of an individual’s Dreams is
essential not only to the individual’s mentoring relationships, but also to
their successful life transitions, self-determined success and the pursuit of
their individual happiness.
